Decorative rugs
Rugs are popular types of flooring that are economical means of decorating the floors. Decorative rugs are available in a wide range of sizes and colours. Chain stitched decorative rugs are popular in India. Before chain stitch decorative rugs were considered as cheap floorings and were of less importance. In the course of time chain-stitch decorative rugs have reached the status of a full-fledged craft form. These decorative rugs have become so popular, that they are also being used as decorative pieces and wall hangings. Kashmir is the main center for chain-stitch decorative rugs.
The needlework done on the decorative rugs is coarse in contrast with the fine embroidery done on traditional Kashmiri shawls. Decorative rugs are versatile. They can be made as focal point of a room, can make cozy conversation areas, give a splash of colour or be a unifying part that ties colours together. They can promptly and easily give rooms character.
Choosing right type of decorative rug:
There are many types of styles and colours available in decorative rugs. Choosing a decorative rug that integrates with the decor is not hard. There are a few factors to consider before buying decorative rug:
1.Decide the focal point of the room. The decorative rug can serve as the focal point, but think about choosing one with a mid decoration. Though, there is another obvious focal point, like a fireplace, and then one may want to use a decorative rug with a more rhythmic pattern and no decoration.
2.Consider the patterns on the upholstery and walls in the room, so they do not compete with the decorative rug. If upholstery or wallpaper is in ornate pattern, choose a subtler model for the decorative rug. If the walls and upholstery are fairly subdued, then try a busier pattern to add more attention to the room.
3.Notice the traffic of that area before getting decorative rags. In high traffic areas, selecting a decorative rug with a thorough pattern may be more practical. The more patterns, the lower the maintenance.
4.Choose a rug with colours that synchronize with the decor. While all the colours in the decorative rug do not have to match the colours in the room, at least one colour should match. Remember that light colour decorative rugs make the room seem larger and darker colours in the rug bring a cozy ambiance to the room.
5.Remember that texture is also a significant element in the decor. Some different fibers within a decorative rug or carved areas can add more interest to a decorative rug’s texture. Decorative rugs made of sisal or jute adds an interesting consistency to smooth hardwood or tile floors.
6.Don’t feel limited to rectangles. Octagonal or circular rugs add a unique touch to a room
